You have purchased a UK Data Sim Card.  It can only be used in an iPad, Tablet or Hotspot device.  It cannot be used in a phone.  If you use it in a phone it will become instantly cancelled and disconnected by the network, and you will not be entitled to a refund.


Do not insert the UK data sim card into your device until arrival.


The UK data sim card is activated in your device in just minutes of your arrival.


Your UK data sim card is a multi-fit sim card, meaning it can be used as a nano sim, a micro sim or a mini/standard sim.  You'll just need to pop out the correct size sim card for your device.


Your UK data sim card comes pre-loaded with 3GB of data.





Activation instructions if you are using an iPad or Tablet


Step 1: Upon arrival, make sure your iPad or Tablet is turned OFF, and then insert the UK data sim card.


Step 2: Turn your iPad or Tablet ON (make sure to turn Wi-Fi OFF for the initial activation of your sim card).  You should instantly connect to the Three UK network.  If you're not using an iPad (for example, you have a Samsung Tablet, or other Tablet), then you might need to change the APN setting on your device if data isn't working for you.  Follow the instructions below to change the APN setting (only if data isn't working).


For an Android Tablet


  • Tap the Menu button
  • Tap Settings
  • Tap Wireless and networks or More... (depending on your version of Android)
  • Tap Mobile Networks
  • Tap Access point names
  • Tap the Menu button
  • Tap New APN
  • Enter the following data into the onscreen form, without changing any other settings;
    Name - 3 Internet
    APN - three.co.uk
[If three.co.uk doesn't work, try using 3internet]
  • If there is a field for password / username leave them blank
  • Tap the Menu button
  • Tap Save
  • Enable the newly-added APN by ensuring the line is ticked, or the radio button is lit by tapping on it
  • Check the notification bar for 4G, H, 3G, E or with up and down arrows beside it, which will indicate your connection is working

For other Tablets


You'll need to create a new APN as follows:


Name: 3 Internet

APN: three.co.uk

[if three.co.uk doesn't work, try 3internet]

  • If there is a field for password / username leave them blank

To check the remaining data balance on your sim card, make sure you're connected to the Three UK network (turn Wi-Fi OFF) and in your web browser go to http://mobile.three.co.uk.  Select "My3 Account", then select "Check your allowance".  You'll need to select the "Not yet registered? Register here" link.  Complete the registration details and you'll be able to check your data balance.



Activation instructions if you are using a Hotspot


1. Upon arrival , insert the UK data sim card into your hotspot.


Different devices behave differently with our sim card:


(a) Some hotspots just instantly connect, with nothing further for you to do.


(b) Some hotspots require you to change the "APN" settings in your hotspot.  To do this, go to your hotspot configuration page/home page (where you can make changes to your device's settings).  If you don't know how to do this, please Google your device + home page e.g. "Sierra Wireless MF810 home page".


Every device is different (there are literally hundreds of different hotspot devices and we cannot provide instructions for each device), but you will need to create a new APN as shown below.  If you don't know where this setting is, do a Google search such as "Change APN on ZTE MF910"

Call it Three UK

The APN is: three.co.uk

[Or use 3internet if three.co.uk doesn't work]

The username: leave it blank

The password:  leave it blank


Once you have set the APN, connect your laptop/tablet etc to your hotspot, and navigate to any website.  You may be instantly connected, or you might see some set up messages on your screen about the activation of your sim card - if you do, just follow any instructions that are shown.


2. Please note that if you are going to use the data sim card in Europe, you must configure your device with the APN settings above.  If your device connected in the UK without you needing to change the APN settings, you must still change the APN settings to use the data sim card in Europe.

How do I check the remaining data balance?


To check the remaining data balance on your data sim card for iPad, Tablet or Hotspot:

 

1. Turn off Wi-Fi on your iPad or Tablet.  If you're using a Hotspot, connect your laptop to the Hotspot.

 

2. On your web browser, go to https://www.three.co.uk

 

3. Click on "Check your data allowance"

 

4. Your data balance will be shown in MB - eg 2,000MB = 2GB.


How do I add more data?

 

If you use up all of your data, you can add more data.  It costs £10 for 1GB (valid for 30 days) or £15 for 3GB (valid for 30 days) or £25 for 7GB (valid for 30 days).
